Wazir-e-Azam Apna Ghar Program
What Wazir-e-Azam Apna Ghar is — and what it is not
25 Aug 2026 · 6 min read · Rules as of 17 Mar 2026
A subsidised bank loan for a first home, not a free house and not a government allotment. How the name changed, and why you apply at a bank.
Wazir-e-Azam Apna Ghar Program – Ghar Ho Tu Apna is a federal markup-subsidy and risk-sharing facility, run through participating banks and HBFCL. The State Bank issued it first as Mera Ghar – Mera Ashiana (SH&SFD Circular No. 03 of 2025, 24 September 2025). It was renamed in March–April 2026. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s public launch was 30 April 2026. The loan is still sanctioned by a bank, not by this website and not by a listing portal.
What you actually get
- Financing up to PKR 10 million (raised in SH&SFD Circular Letter No. 01 of 2026, 17 March 2026).
- 90% loan-to-value — you still need equity, taxes, and transfer costs.
- 5% fixed markup for the first 10 years, then 1-year KIBOR + 3% for the rest of a tenor up to 20 years. Do not read that as “5% for 20 years.”
- The scheme text says no processing fee and no prepayment penalty. Banks may still charge legal and valuation costs at actual.
Where to apply
Applications go to a participating financial institution. The official list lives on apnaghar.gov.pk and changes (NBFCs were added in July 2026, according to contemporaneous reporting). Estate Checks does not underwrite or forward a file to every bank.
